Important changes in the US visa process!

On September 6, the US Embassy website published information regarding restrictions on non-immigrant visas.

Ukrainians will now be able to obtain a US visa only in Warsaw or Krakow or in the country of their permanent residence, only if they have an official document proving their right to reside in that country.

The statement states that applicants must schedule an interview in their country of citizenship or permanent residence. These exceptions are made for countries where non-immigrant visas are not issued, Ukraine is included in this list.

It is also noted that current appointments for interviews that were created before the innovation are usually not canceled. However, it is worth remembering that paid consular fees are not refundable and cannot be transferred to other persons, and are not transferred from one country to another.

We remind you that in Ukraine only certain categories of citizens have the opportunity to obtain a non-immigrant visa, such as:
- ukrainian military personnel traveling to the United States for medical treatment;
- children of Ukrainian military personnel killed in combat traveling under the War-Bereaved Children Program;
- citizens with a life-threatening illness requiring immediate treatment in the United States;
- citizens responding to an emergency in the United States involving a close relative requiring immediate travel;
- foreign diplomats accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv or third-country nationals working for a registered humanitarian or charitable organization in Ukraine;
- citizens participating in urgent business travel, including travel to academic conferences.
