Royal Caribbean has announced a construction milestone for its seventh Oasis-class vessel, celebrating the keel-laying ceremony at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
The event marks the start of physical assembly for the new ship and kicks off the next two years of construction ahead of its anticipated debut in 2028.
According to a press release by Royal Caribbean, during the ceremony, teams from the shipyard and the company placed a layer of freshly minted coins beneath the first steel block in the drydock, known as the keel.
This long-standing maritime tradition symbolizes the beginning of the ship's life and is intended to bring good fortune to the ship, its crew, and future travelers.
More details about the seventh Oasis-class vacation ship will be announced in due course.
