What will the new Ace-class giant Carnival Destiny look like?
At a press conference in Monfalcone on July 10, Carnival Cruise Line announced the launch of the next generation of ships joining its fleet starting in 2029.
Together with the Fincantieri shipyard, the cruise line held a steel-cutting ceremony for the new Ace-class ship, which will be named the Carnival Destiny.
The name honors the cruise line's first ship larger than 100,000 tons, which was launched in 1996.
Biaggio Mazzotta, Fincantieri chairman, and Pierroberto Folgiero, Fincantieri CEO and managing director, addressed the audience, as well as Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy.
“With this steel cutting we begin construction on a new class of ships for Carnival Cruise Line, which we are officially calling ACE class, — said Duffy. — The three Ace ships coming in 2029, 2031 and 2033 are designed to change how guests will experience the sea while on their cruise».
Duffy added that the Destiny will be the most outward-facing ship in Carnival's fleet. Guests can look forward to more ocean views across more spaces, a reimagined Lanai deck, more than 4.5 acres (1.8 hectares) of glass, the most ocean-view balconies at sea, and more than 70 percent new concepts across dining, beverage, and entertainment.
The cruise line showcased a 3D hologram of the new ship (see below), and the video of the unveiling can be viewed at this link.
