Why is it important to plan your trip in advance?

How checkpoints on the border with Moldova work now?

Some checkpoints in the Odessa region (for example, Palanka–Mayaki–Udobne and Starokozache–Tudora) are temporarily restricted or closed due to the consequences of the strike. The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development reported that traffic on the Odesa-Reni highway is currently temporarily hampered due to a Russian attack near the settlement of Mayaki.



In particular, as of the evening of December 20, traffic was blocked to the following checkpoints: 

- "Palanka – Mayaki – Udobne";
- "Reni – Giurgiulesti";
- "Tabaky – Myrne";
- "Vinohradivka – Vulcanesti";
- "Maloyaroslavets – Ceadyr-Lunga 1";
- "Serpneve – Besarabiaska";
- "Novi Troyani – Ceadyr-Lunga";
- "Starokozace – Tudora";
- "Orlivka – Isaccea".

Due to changes in the transport infrastructure, planning your trip in advance becomes especially important. What can we recommend to you?:

1. Choose alternative border crossing points
Instead of congested destinations in the Odessa region, you should consider the following options::
 • Vinnytsia region: «Bronnitsa – Ungry» (Please note: "Mohyliv-Podilskyi - Otach" is often overloaded)
 • Chernivtsi region: «Vashkivtsi – Hrymenkeuts”, “Rossoshany – Briceni”, “Kelmentsi – Larga”, “Sokyryany – Oknytsia”, “Mamalyga – Kryva»
The єЧерга  system operates on these routes for departures from Ukraine for both trucks and buses. Passenger carriers departing to Moldova must select the appropriate checkpoint when registering in e-Queue. If there is no permit for a regular route through these checkpoints, a one-time permit or Interbus logbook can be used for registration.

2. Plan your departure at least 24 hours before departure
Queues at the border can change without warning. An extra night in Chisinau is a much safer solution than risking missing your flight.

3. Take care of travel insurance
If insurance is not already included in your booking, we recommend that you purchase it additionally. It is important that there are at least 48 hours left before the departure date.

Due to complications at the border, Ukrzaliznytsia has assigned additional cars to Chisinau (Moldova) from Odessa and Kyiv — this may be a more convenient alternative than traveling by car through damaged areas. They are also expanding bus processing capabilities at some checkpoints, which may help passengers without cars.

Practical travel tips:
- Check the status of a specific checkpoint before traveling (queues, restrictions, changes in operating hours).
- Choose checkpoints in western Ukraine - they are currently more reliable for crossing into Moldova.
- For cars, keep in mind that some checkpoints restrict the movement of heavy vehicles or have special conditions (for example, weight restrictions).
- If traveling by bus - check whether your route formally passes through active checkpoints, or choose a train/bus to Chisinau directly.
