Cruises to Greece will become more expensive!

From 21.07.2025, the Greek authorities have decided to introduce a mandatory cruise passenger tax for all guests visiting any Greek port.

A mandatory fee is charged to all guests, regardless of age (including infants), who disembark in Greek ports, whether transit passengers on an organized shore excursion or on their own, as well as tourists whose cruise expires in a Greek port.

Below is the current collection information for the period through May 31, 2026:

• from 21 July 2025 to 30 September 2025:

- 20 euros per person per port for Mykonos and Santorini,
- 5 euros per person per port for all other Greek ports;

• from 1 October to 31 October 2025 / from 1 April 2026 to 31 May 2026:
- 12 euros per person per port for Mykonos and Santorini,
- 3 euros per person per port in all other Greek ports;

• from 1 November 2025 to 31 March 2026:
- 4 euros per person per port for Mykonos and Santorini,
- 1 euro per person per port in all other Greek ports.

Consultation on any issues

ariffs for the following dates have not yet been announced by the Greek authorities.

What Cruise Lines Do?

There is no single policy yet – everyone decides in their own way.

- Companies: MSC, Explora, Costa, Celestyal - automatically charge this fee to the Greek authorities, from the guests' onboard account the night before each event in a Greek port. In case any of the guests decide to stay on board and not go ashore, the fee will be automatically returned to the guest's account within 24 hours;
- NCL will cover these taxes as part of the "Taxes and Fees" section of their guests' invoices. Guests on NCL cruises will not be charged a fee when going ashore.
- Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Aroya - do not charge anything yet (but this may change at any time);

The situation is only developing. If you have a cruise with an event planned to Greece after July 2025, consider possible surcharges and follow the news.
