The world's deepest artificial harbor has been built in Egypt!

On December 15, 2025, the Port of Ain Sokhna was officially entered into the Guinness Book of Records as having the world's deepest artificial port area created on land: the depth of the harbor reaches 19 meters.

This depth allows the port to accommodate the world's largest vessels, strengthening Egypt's position as one of the key global trade and logistics centers.

The Guinness World Records certificate was presented to Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamal Al-Wazir by Guinness accredited judge El-Dafrawi during his visit to the port on the Red Sea coast.



As part of the visit, al-Wazir also inspected the pilot operation of the Hutchison container terminal at the port of Ain Sokhna, which has become part of a major transport corridor connecting the Red and Mediterranean Seas.

This terminal is the first completed facility in a large-scale port development project after the finalization of all necessary infrastructure. The project is implemented in accordance with the state strategy to transform Egypt into a regional hub for transport, logistics and transit operations.

Ain Sokhna Port plays a key role in the Sokhna-Dehaila Integrated Logistics Corridor, which connects the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea and provides a strategic connection between two of the most important sea basins..
