In 2003, the company welcomed its flagship, Crystal Serenity, constructed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France. 2013 — Start of Partnership with Four Gates Group
In 2013, the travel operator Four Gates Group signed a partnership agreement with Crystal Cruises, recognizing it as one of the world’s most popular luxury cruise brands. Even before the agreement, Four Gates executives had personally sailed aboard Crystal ships and praised the level of service, restaurant quality, and interior design.
One notable visit was an inspection of Crystal Symphony during its call in Odesa, Ukraine, as part of a cruise itinerary combining the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

Change of Ownership and Bold Expansion (2015–2020)
In 2015, NYK sold Crystal Cruises to the Hong Kong-based conglomerate Genting Hong Kong for 0 million. This marked the beginning of an ambitious phase of development:
- Launch of Crystal Yacht Cruises and the luxury yacht Crystal Esprit (62 guests)
- Introduction of Crystal River Cruises in Europe, featuring five ultra-luxury river vessels
- Creation of Crystal Luxury Air — a fleet of business jets and a Boeing 777

Pandemic, Crisis, and Suspension of Operations (2020–2022)
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 severely impacted the cruise industry. Genting Hong Kong faced serious financial difficulties and suspended payments to creditors in 2021. In January 2022, Crystal Cruises officially ceased operations. All voyages were canceled, ships were arrested in the U.S. due to unpaid fuel bills, and offices were closed — a shocking turn of events for loyal customers and the cruise community.

Rescue and Rebirth with A&K Travel Group (2022–2023)
In June 2022, the A&K Travel Group, founded by Geoffrey Kent (founder of Abercrombie & Kent) and Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio (former owner of Silversea Cruises), acquired the Crystal brand along with its two key ships: Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. This marked a fresh new beginning for the iconic line.

Both ships underwent extensive renovation:
- Reduced guest capacity for greater onboard space per guest
- All suites, lounges, restaurants, and spa areas were completely redesigned
- Introduction of the ultra all-inclusive concept
- Crew-to-guest ratio improved to nearly 1:1
Crystal Cruises officially returned to the seas in summer 2023, offering refreshed itineraries, an upgraded gastronomic program, exclusive partnerships, and signature shore excursions led by Abercrombie & Kent.

Present Day and Future Direction (2024–2026)
Crystal Cruises is actively investing in the future. In 2024, the company signed a contract with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri to construct two next-generation luxury cruise ships, designed to meet the highest standards of sustainable shipbuilding.
